FAQs to get you started

What happens after I make a swap offer on the swapsite?

The person that you’ve made a swap offer to will receive an email, where they can accept or reject your offer. You will be notified via email of the outcome. These offers will stay until the user makes a decision or the garment is traded elsewhere. It may be instant or it can take a while as they decide. In the meantime, we’ll send them little reminders about the offer.

What do I do after I make a swap with another person?

We recommend registering your *new* swap garment again so that you can continue to use our platform for trades. Re-registering has a small fee of $4.79 that helps cover the cost of facilitating swaps and give you the assurance of our excellent customer service during the transactions.

Is it guaranteed that I will be able to swap my garment?

While all efforts have been made to streamline and make swaps really easy for our customers, it’s completely up to the community whether they will trade garments with you or not.

Despite swaps not being completely guaranteed, our mission is to make our clothes reach the right hands when they are no longer wanted. Our focus is to make sure our clothes have the best chance of being re-utilised wherever possible. Every day we’re building measures to make sure we get as close to our dream of creating a true ‘Closed-Loop’ system. Make sure to read our vision of a sustainable future to learn more.

How involved is Clothes Loop in the swapping process?

We monitor and record all swap offers and garment registrations to ensure the best experience possible. However, the communications made between matched swappers are strictly between the two parties and handled through whichever external communication method they choose (email, phone, messaging, etc.).

To settle disputes, it is a requirement that both parties keep their communications documented and to make a copy as evidence. Without this, we are unable to settle disputes and reserve the right to reject any claims.

What do I do if I have a dispute with another swapper/community member?

Firstly, gather your emails and any communication records you have. The respective parties will be asked to do the same. You will need to contact us via email and send a copy of the communications as an attachment (for multiple files, we ask that you send in a .zip format). From there we will conduct an investigation. Outcomes will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

In the event of a misleading garment transaction, we will also check the garment images that have been uploaded to our swap site. Therefore, we recommend that you update your garment’s details regularly with current, clear imagery and accurate descriptions. Details can be updated through this form here.

Any case of poor misconduct from community members that are in breach of our terms and conditions will result in a strike and a negative public rating. In the event that the user receives more than 2 strikes, they will be banned from using the swap platform. However, an immediate ban will apply if there have been reports of unwanted solicitation from other members or any activity that we deem as purposefully malicious.

Please review our terms and conditions for more information, as well as our privacy statement.

Is there a member review system?

Our public review system is currently being developed as we gather more information internally. We will send swappers a post-swap survey for rating review and feedback. We recommend everyone to complete this, as it helps improve the platform and build more safeguards within the service.

Will you have a service to swap non-Clothes Loop apparel?

Unfortunately, we are currently not exploring avenues within our official platform to facilitate swaps between non-Clothes Loop garments.

However, we currently have a Facebook swap-sell group we’ve set up to encourage the public to try their hand at swapping any clothing. It’s also a place for like-minded ‘Swapstars’ to connect. Please be aware that we are not responsible for any transactions that occur through this page.

There are also plenty of services not affiliated by us that can be used to swap external clothing, ranging from Facebook groups, apps and physical events.

Nonetheless, we don’t believe that the Clothes Loop experience stops at our own clothes. We’re all about making clothes swapping fashionable while making connections with similar people.

So what’s to say a Clothes Loop garment swap won’t lead to people making their own networks and swapping their own clothes the old-school way.

What brands and clothing will be part of the loop?

The garments we carry are chosen based on requirements ranging from high-quality materials, quality of construction, design and brand ethos. We’re about making good clothes available to everyone and we’d like to support brands with integrity, whether it is ethical, sustainable and/ or independent.

Currently we’re focusing only on womenswear, however, we’re definitely open to exploring menswear in the future.

If you’re a label or you know a brand you’d like to see as part of the Loop, please reach out to us. We’re always looking to expand our range and our community!
